DC++ is an application designed to provide support to users who want to download or upload files via the peer to peer protocol. The utility is really simple to use and it needs no special configuration. However, users have the possibility to fine tune a lot of different settings which might relate to their internet connection or simply preferences. Each user can define a number of upload and download slots he want to use and he can start sharing files from his own computer on the network.
DC++ works with networks which are called hubs. There are thousands of hubs worlwide and they are all sorted with the aid of several hub lists, some of them being available within the settings of the app. Users can add multiple hubs to a favorite list and connect to them in order to share files over the networks. They will then be able to find and download files from the members of the mentioned hubs.
DC++ uses the TTH method in order to check the integrity of files and also find alternate downloads for a certain one. Downloads do not have to be completed in one session and they can be resumed at any later time. Downloaded files are split into segments so that they are downloaded faster from multiple users at the same time.
