For users that care about functionality rather than about design, Popcorn is a suited email client. The tool is not designed to impress through its design, which is rather simple, but instead, it manages to allow users to focus on the actual tasks they have to achieve, either if it is about reading or responding to emails.
Popcorn is designed to support an unlimited number of POP3 and SMTP email accounts so that users can keep themselves updated with their emails. Each account is displayed individually in a sidebar and it can be expanded for a directory list, too. This way, users can access every account and folder they need to with just a single click. The connections are encrypted with the aid of a SSL protocol so that sending and receiving email are protected actions.
Popcorn displays desktop notifications whenever new emails are received. These notifications can be configured, along with the refresh types of the accounts. Users have the possibility to manually refresh accounts or to allow them to be automatically updated, either in real time or at certain time intervals. The utility does also provide a portable version which can be added on a USB flash drive for instant access to email accounts from anywhere. The access can be secured with the aid of a master password.
